Basically, multiplication is a mathematical operation where a number is added to itself a number of times.

We use multiplication as it is much quicker way of getting an answer than repeated addition (especially if you learn your times tables).

Simply, Times tables are multiplication facts organised into a table. These are facts from the 2 x tables.

The facts are much easier to memorise if they are ordered into a table. The tables usually display the numbers 1 to 12.
